Cooking to Combat Covid-19

Early in the pandemic, doctors found that people were better able to deal with Covid infection if they were initially healthy with no underlying chronic medical conditions. This four-class Zoom series delivers important nutrition information for optimal health to support you during the pandemic and beyond. I will take you through nutritional education and cooking demonstrations so that you can confidently start a healthy plant-based life. In Class 1, we will cover the basics of how a diet rich in plants helps to support a healthy immune system. In Classes 2&3, we will talk about the role of a plant-based diet in the prevention and management of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. And finally, in Class 4, we will discuss how eating a plant-based diet, as well as other lifestyle habits, can support emotional health. Each one-and-a-half hour Zoom session will start with an introduction and a short video, followed by a cooking demonstration showing you how to cook simple healthy vegan dishes. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion.

Cooking to Combat Covid is part of the Food For Life programme which has been created by the Physicians Committee, a not-for-profit based in America, which is supported by over 12,000 doctors who realise that one of the most powerful ways to promote health is through a plant-based diet.

WHY

A vegan diet of whole grains, beans, vegetables and fruits can help prevent diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and other chronic diseases. Cooking to Combat Covid is about embracing an overall healthful diet. It's about choosing the right foods for staying healthy and managing weight as well as improving energy and mood.
